Warehouse Light Beams
This photo depicts several shafts of light illuminating a decrepit warehouse in Point Richmond, California. It was taken in the mid-afternoon, when the sun was at the perfect position for it to cast its rays through the warehouse’s skylight and produce light beams. This occurrence was the result of light scattering, in which small particles deflect incoming light and cause it to be visible from the side. The thick waves of dust swirling around the warehouse’s interior were the perfect medium for scattering the sun’s light, making the beams appear rather striking as they pierced through the darkness of the warehouse.
